12 Colorado publishers accepting unsolicited manuscripts in June 2025

Now that you’ve written your novel, it’s time to pitch it to a local Colorado publisher! All of the publishers listed here are currently accepting manuscripts without a literary agent and I’ve done my best to weed out vanity publishers and those with less than savoury business practices. I update this list at the start of every month so be sure to check back if you don’t find a publisher that suits your needs or have a look at my other publishers lists where you can search via genre.

1. Filter Press

   Filter Press publishes books on Colorado history.

4. WildBlue Press

   Wildblue Press was founded by two college friends who recognized that the publishing world was changing. They strive to create a unique and engaging process for authors.
   Genre: Fiction in the genres of fantasy, mystery, romance, science fiction and thriller. For nonfiction, they accept biography, memoir, history and true crime.
   Word count: Not stated.

5. Bala Kids

   Bala Kids is the children's book imprint of Shambhala Publications. They are dedicated to encouraging the values of wisdom and compassion for children of all ages with books on Buddhism, meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and more.
   Genre: Children's books for ages 0 to 8 in the categories of Buddhism, mindfulness, meditation and yoga.
   Word count: Not stated.

6. Bull Publishing Company

   Bull Publishing Company publishes health books that help people take care of themselves and their families.
   Genre: Nonfiction in the areas of pain, caregiving, nutrition, child care, self care and living a healthy life with chronic conditions.

7. Lynne Rienner Publishers

   Lynne Rienner Publishers was founded in 1984 and publishes in the fields of international studies, comparative politics, US politics, military history and criminology.
   Genre: Scholarly nonfiction and textbooks in the areas of international studies, comparative politics, US politics, military history and criminology.

8. David C Cook

   David C Cook is a nonprofit publisher dedicated to helping Christians all over the world grow in their faith and pass faith onto the next generation.
   Genre: Christian nonfiction and poetry that helps people grow in their faith.

9. Fulcrum Publishing

   Fulcrum Publishing started in 1983 by two friends who wanted to preserve and protect the Wyoming wilderness. Their publishing company was founded the year after in Denver and strives to be an unbiased matchmaker between hungry readers and ardent authors.

10. Shambhala Publications

    Shambhala Publications publishes books that are authentic, timeless and transformational. They are an independent publisher distributed by Penguin Random House.

11. University Press of Colorado

    The University Press of Colorado's mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge globally by publishing significant scholarly works and making them accessible to people around the world.
    Genre: Nonfiction in the areas of anthropology, archaeology, ethnohistory, environmental justice, history of the American West, indigenous studies, and the natural sciences as well as projects about the state of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
